About Nathaniel A. Riggle

Integrity in every detail

Nathaniel’s approach to craftsmanship was shaped early, working alongside his father, grandfathers, and uncles on home renovation, carpentry, and masonry projects. From them, he learned that quality is not rushed, details matter, and integrity is built into the structure long before it is visible on the surface.

A talented musician, Nathaniel began his professional career building, restoring, and maintaining pipe organs for churches and recital halls across the country. That work demanded patience, meticulous attention to detail, and a deep respect for both tradition and acoustics — qualities that continue to define his approach today. He currently tunes and repairs instruments for the Portland Baroque Orchestra, where careful listening and meticulous adjustment are essential to performance at the highest level.

In addition to his work in the musical world, Nate has served as an engineer in the semiconductor industry, further sharpening his technical expertise and familiarity with modern tools and processes. This uncommon combination of old-world craft and advanced engineering allows him to approach every project with both classical standards and contemporary precision.

Outside of work, Nate enjoys restoring vintage electronics, working on classic cars, and exploring the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest — pursuits that reflect his enduring appreciation for well-built systems, thoughtful design, and the satisfaction of bringing things back to life.

Client Perspectives

“After buying property in the Canemah Historic District in Oregon City, we needed someone who understood both design and historic preservation requirements.

Nathaniel worked closely with our surveyor to design a two-story Craftsman home that honors the character of the neighborhood while meeting our vision for retirement living.

He has been instrumental in navigating the permitting process and ensuring everything aligns with historic guidelines. We’re grateful for his expertise and are looking forward to bringing the project to life.”

“We hired Nathaniel after purchasing our 1970s home in SW Portland, which needed exterior painting, a bathroom renovation, and a range of general repairs.

Nathaniel delivered high-quality workmanship across every aspect of the project. The exterior paint completely refreshed the home’s appearance, the bathroom renovation was cleanly executed, and the smaller repairs were handled efficiently and thoroughly.

He was responsive, organized, and easy to work with, making the entire process smooth and stress-free. We’re extremely pleased with the outcome and would confidently recommend him.”

“We hired Nathaniel to remodel the kitchen in our early 1900s home in SE Portland, which still had an outdated 1980s look. The scope included new custom cabinetry, cork flooring, a custom-built pantry with detailed millwork, all new appliances, and updated lighting.

Nathaniel handled the framing and drywall work directly and provided strong project leadership by coordinating plumbing and electrical subcontractors. He worked closely with our interior designer to ensure the modern updates fit seamlessly within the home’s original turn-of-the-century character.

The finished kitchen feels both elevated and authentic — a true transformation that respects its history.”
